GRAPPLING COURSE IN RIO DE JANEIRO

The Grappling course of Rio de Janeiro successfully took place on 23-24 June 2007. It was directed by Jean-François Court, Jason Townsend and Chris Carlino and it essentially covered the study of the International Grappling Regulations, the main match situations and the role of the referee.
The course was devided into practical and theoretical sessions and brought together 55 highly motivated participants. All of them were either trainees, coaches, referees, or leaders of the famous Rio and Sao Paulo academies, such as Brazilian Top Team, Team Alliance, Rickson Gracie, Gracie Barra or Vale Tuedo. The next big Grappling event will be the World Wrestling Games that will take place in Antalya (TUR) from 6 ot 9 September 2007. For this first edition of the Games, FILA decided to impose neither a participation fee nor a participation limit by category and by country. This exceptional measure is meant to encourage the participation in this great event that will award the title of World Champion in the disciplines of Grappling, Beach Wrestling, Sambo and Pangration Athlima
